Abell 1835 IR1916 (marcado con un recuadro en la imagen más grande, con un círculo en la siguiente y limitado con rayas en las inferiores) es la galaxia más lejana conocida, situada a unos 13.000 millones de años luz. Fue descubierta el 1 de marzo de 2004 por un equipo de astrónomos franceses y suizos gracias a los telescopios europeos VLT. Las imágenes fueron tomadas en longitudes de onda del infrarrojo lejano, mientras que las inferiores son imágenes desde el visible al infrarrojo. Crédito: ESO

Abell 1835 IR1916 (marked with a box in the bigger picture, circled in the following and limited with stripes on the bottom) is the most distant known galaxy, located about 13,000 million light years. It was discovered on March 1, 2004 by a team of French and Swiss astronomers thanks to european VLT telescopes. The images were taken at wavelengths of far infrared, while the lower are images from the visible to the infrared. Credit: ESO
